Krabi in 2 days: Beaches, islands and local flavours
A Krabi weekend that feels longer than two days
A weekend in Krabi is more than enough time to get a taste of what makes the province so special. One day takes you from the local seafood of Koh Klang to the beaches and limestone cliffs of Railay and Phra Nang. The next is all about the water, from kayaking through the clear waters of Khlong Nam Sai to exploring the Hong Islands by boat.
For @zakuanzainal and @foreppppp, Krabi was a surprise destination as part of their MOVE’s social media Blind Box Challenge. This trip turned into a weekend that moved easily between local flavours, laid-back beaches and adventures on the water.
Before you arrive: TDAC
Before you fly, there’s just one thing to tick off. International visitors to Thailand, need to complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before arrival. It’s free, isn’t a visa, and can be submitted within three days of your arrival date. Once it’s done, keep the confirmation handy for immigration clearance.

How to get from Krabi Airport to Railay Beach
Krabi long-tail boat
Once you’ve landed, make your way from Krabi Airport to Ao Nang by road before switching to a long-tail boat for the short ride to Railay Beach.
The return boat fare is about THB 200 per person. Check the latest fare, departure point and return arrangements before setting off, particularly during low season when weather and sea conditions can affect boat services.
Day 1: Local seafood, Railay Beach and sunset at Phra Nang
Local Food
The first day begins away from the crowds on Koh Klang, a small island just across from Krabi town. At Baan Ma-Ying, a floating seafood spot, lunch comes with a quiet tranquil view of the island and a spread of fresh local dishes. It’s a relaxed start to the day before heading out to explore some of Krabi’s better-known beaches and limestone landscapes.
@zakuanzainal “Baan Ma-Ying made it feel as though the trip had properly begun. The seafood was excellent, and it gave us a different side of Krabi before we headed out to the coast.”
From Koh Klang, continue towards Railay Beach in Ao Nang, where the scenery gradually shifts from local island life to Krabi's unmistakable limestone coastline.
The long-tail boat ride is part of the experience. As the boat pulls away from the shore, the limestone cliffs begin to rise around you, setting the scene for the afternoon.
There is no need to rush once you reach Railay. Spend some time walking along the beach, swimming or simply finding a spot beneath the cliffs and taking in the scenery.
End the day at Phra Nang Cave Beach
Later in the afternoon, head to Phra Nang Cave Beach and linger until sunset if the weather allows. After a day of exploring, the pace naturally slows here, with the limestone cliffs and sea providing a fitting backdrop as the first day comes to a close.
Day 2: Khlong Nam Sai and the Hong Islands
The second day starts quietly at Khlong Nam Sai, with a morning paddle before heading out to the Hong Islands for more time on the water.
Start with clear-water kayaking
Start inland at Khlong Nam Sai, also known as Khlong Root, where clear water, greenery and calm surroundings make for a very different morning.
The water is remarkably clear, with leafy banks lining the route. It is a peaceful start and it is also the filming location of Jurassic World: Rebirth, although you do not need a Hollywood connection to appreciate the scenery in Khlong Root.
Which island-hopping tour should you choose in Krabi?
Spend the afternoon around the Hong Islands. Return to the Andaman Sea for Koh Lao Lading, Hong Lagoon and Koh Hong: a cliff-framed bay, emerald lagoon and inviting beach, each with a different atmosphere.
The Hong Islands route works well for a short trip because it combines three distinct landscapes without spending the whole day commuting. Choose a tour that clearly states the route, inclusions and any national-park fees.
@foreppppp “What I loved about day two was how the mood kept changing. We started kayaking at Khlong Nam Sai, then headed out to Koh Lao Lading, Hong Lagoon and Koh Hong. In just two days, it felt as though we had seen so many different sides of Krabi.”
Is low season a good time to visit Krabi?
Yes. Krabi’s low season can bring occasional rain and rougher seas, but the weather can change quickly, and a wet spell does not necessarily mean a washout. For travellers who don’t mind keeping their plans flexible, there is still plenty to enjoy, from quiet beach days and kayaking to island-hopping when sea conditions are right. With fewer crowds, popular spots can also feel more relaxed.
The key is to leave some room in your plans. Check the forecast and boat conditions before heading out, and have a mainland activity ready as a backup. That way, a change in weather simply means changing the plan, rather than losing the day.
How much does a 2-day trip to Krabi cost?
A two-day Krabi getaway can be fairly manageable on the wallet too. On the August 2026 trip, the Malaysia content creators spent around THB 6,550 per person, covering return flights, a shared room for one night, transport, meals, kayaking and an island tour. It’s a useful benchmark rather than a set package price, with costs varying depending on your travel dates, departure point and tour inclusions.
